Question or issue on macOS:
I’m just updated my Mac to OS X 10.11 El Capitan DP 2, and I disappointed that it does not support Xcode 6.3.2
MacOS 10.11.6 XCode 8.2.1. Find the Download URL. The first thing you have to do is find the file that you need to download. To do this, open up XCode and click on “Preferences Components” to see a list of available simulators to download. Click the down arrow next to the simulator you want to download to begin the normal download process. Xcode - Wikipedia has a complete compatibility listing for Xcode, what version works with which version of OS X. It also includes a listing of versions of Xcode’s support libraries for things like iOS and iWatch, for each version.
Now, how do I work? I have a project to do, and it’s not a good time to convert my project to Swift 2/Xcode 7 since it’s impossible to submitting at this time?
How to solve this problem?
Solution no. 1:
Open terminal and use this command
/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/MacOS/Xcode </dev/null &>/dev/null &
Solution no. 2:
From the El Capitan release notes:
Xcode versions prior to 7 are not supported on OS X El Capitan Beta 3
And from the Xcode 7 beta 4 release notes:
Xcode 6.x has known compatibility issues when run on OS X version 10.11 El Capitan. It is strongly encouraged that you use Xcode 7 when running on OS X El Capitan.
I know it doesn’t help you much now, but as a general rule of thumb, I recommend not upgrading anything in your build process if you’re on a deadline and you can’t easily revert.
Hope this helps!
