Office 2016 for Mac is a version of Office that’s available as a one-time purchase from a retail store or through a volume licensing agreement. It will be supported with security updates and bug fixes, as needed, until October 13, 2020. The minimum supported macOS for Office 2016 for Mac is 10.10 (Yosemite). Aug 13, 2015 The OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 update improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac, and is recommended for all users. This update: Improves compatibility with certain email servers when using Mail. Fixes an issue in Photos that prevented importing videos from GoPro cameras.

Important: Beginning September 20, 2013, please expect to see a difference in your Student E-mail. Our e-mail host partner, Microsoft, is transitioning Outlook Live from Hotmail to Office 365.

What does this mean for you?

After the upgrade you will have two separate accounts with the same user name and password that you use to access Live@edu.

  1. Office 365account.This account gives you access to your school email. Yosemite Community College District / Modesto Junior College / Columbia College administers this account.
  2. Personal Microsoft account. This personal account will give you access to all your existing SkyDrive content, Messenger, and other Microsoft services.
    Note that Yosemite Community College District / Modesto Junior College / Columbia College no longer administers this account. As a result, we cannot reset the SkyDrive or Messenger password for you.

What should you expect?

Email.We will continue to use Microsoft Outlook Web App or Microsoft Outlook to view and send email, but you will sign in at a different website.

File sharing. We will have the option of using Microsoft SharePoint Online for sharing files and Office Web Apps for creating and reading documents. If you are currently using SkyDrive for classroom workflow, please note the account differences explained above. Instant messaging and online meetings. We will have the option of using Microsoft Lync Online for both instant messaging and online meetings.

What do you need to do?

Complete the following steps:

  1. 1. If you are using Internet Explorer 6 or 7, upgrade to a newer version of Internet Explorer.

2. If you use Outlook to read your email and you are using Microsoft Office 2003, upgrade to Outlook2007 or newer, to continue using Outlook. NOTE: Outlook is not required to use Office 365.

3. Access your email and calendar at https://www.outlook.com/student.yosemite.edu

4. Sign into SkyDrive at https://skydrive.live.com/
